Why Life Coaching

I’ve been asked a lot lately WHY I got into Life Coaching. The truth is, it also chose me.

As long as I can remember I have always had a passion for empowering and supporting others. I have the ability to see someone's gifts, and guide them to see what the rest of the world already has been seeing for years.

For those that don’t know me all that well, let me share with you a bit of my journey, and how I came to aligning myself with my purpose.

This all started when I was lucky enough to work for a company for several years that had the belief in me to take on many unique opportunities. They allowed me to try new things, to develop myself, be a business owner, but most importantly they allowed me to develop others. This was given to me through the gift of training. The task to break down a set of skills, train, coach, provide feedback and celebrate wins.

It was my first taste of empowering others to reach their full potential and it filled me to the brim of happiness.

It fulfilled me so much that I knew I needed to find a way to make this my everyday life. I thought first counselling was the way to go, so I took night school for two and a half years to get my degree. When I came to the end of my schooling, my mentor at the time asked me if I would consider taking on a role in HR. This was something I had never considered before.

It would focus a lot on training and development. Working 1 on 1 with passionate individuals seeking growth and something that made them fulfilled. Was this what I was looking for? I didn’t know, but I did know that I wanted to help people grow and shine, so I took it. Soon I began facilitating 1 and 2 days training. Training on how to give feedback, presentation skills and finally leadership. I loved standing in front of people, providing value and new skills they could take with them. Things were falling into place, but something still felt off. It took almost a year before it hit me. Although I loved helping all these amazing people further their career, I realized my true calling was to empower and support women. I myself have struggled with many self esteem issues. Losing who I was, not knowing what my passions were any more. The feeling of no confidence and an overall lack of purpose. It is a unsettling feeling to have, and that’s why I knew I could guide women to rediscover and fall in love with their unique and beautiful selves. Just as I did myself.

I hope that helps you understand a little more why I found life coaching, and how it also chose me.
